Model flying is a fantastic hobby — combining engineering, creativity, and the thrill of flight. Whether you’re interested in fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, or multi-rotors, there’s something for everyone.
At Salisbury Model Flying Club, we welcome enthusiastic model flyers of all backgrounds. However, it’s important to note that:
- We generally cannot provide training or instruction.
- All members must be competent pilots, with current BMFA membership (for insurance) and CAA registration.
How to Get Started
If you are brand new to flying, the best route is through the British Model Flying Association (BMFA), who can connect you with:
- Local clubs that run structured training programmes.
- BMFA-registered instructors who offer one-to-one tuition.
- The BMFA Achievement Scheme, which provides clear goals and certification (e.g. “A” and “B” certificates).
